Update, Sunday evening, 10/12

Thanks for all your prayers! The infection control doctor saw Rhonda today. She has an infection in her bloodstream. The blood culture has shown which group the infection is in and that they do have her on the correct antibiotic. They are continuing to test for the strain of the infection. The second culture showed that it is not growing as fast as it was - good news, the antibiotic is helping. The doctor thinks it is either strep throat or an infection from her pic line. They should know what strain it is in a day or two. They have removed her pic line and started her on a second antibiotic. She has run a fever all day but it has stayed between 100 and 102. Rhonda is still having headaches and pains, but they have been able to control them better. Debbie stayed with her last night, her mom's been with her today, and Wendy will be with her tonight.
